Christmas is in the air!
Here in Peru, Christmas is in the air! After a busy year of learning, minstering, growing, and renewing, the end has finally come. Although it's springtime here in the southern hemisphere and growing hotter every day, we are still in the Christmas spirit. This is because Christmas doesn't actually have anything to do with snow and presents, but rather the great gift God gave to mankind through the birth of his Son, Jesus Christ! Now that is a cause worth celebrating!
How are we celebrating it, you might ask? As a family, we have already decorated the house. Our tree is up, and the boys and I went crazy putting lights up all over the house this year. Our giant "Christmas is about Jesus" sign (that we built last year) is on loan this year to the city, it is hanging in our town square plaza! As I type this, Cris Johana is cooking up a storm for the church Christmas party we are hosting at our house tonight. We are going to pack our hosue and have a blast! We only wish you were here to join us!
Ministry has been hopping too. This past Sunday, our church drama team performed in two simultaneous Christmas events hosted by the city on different sides of town. We were blessed to share the true meaning of Christmas with several thousand people that were present at these events: that Jesus Christ loves them and came to save them!
This morning, we gave out fruitcakes and Christmas cards to teachers from 3 local schools. We saw this gesture of appreciation as a bridge to open future doors for the gospel. We appraciate their dedication and hard work in our community. Also, this Saturday I will travel 6 hours (each way) by bus with a team of 20 people from our church to a village called MariaTana high in the Andes (12,000 ft. elevation) to put on a special Christmas program for over 70 children that live there. We are bringing special gifts for each child.
Thank you so much for all of you prayers for these activities. ONLY the power of the Holy Spirit, moved by prayer, can open the hearts of the lost. I also want to thank each of you for making this ministry possible through your financial partnership. We are so blessed to work together for the Kingdom!
May God bless your family this Christmas!
Blessings in Christ,
The Wollbrink Family
