Live from Cieneguilla Peru
It's a Bird, it's a Plane, no, it's Superman! And he's at Fuente de Vida church today? Huh?
I imagine these were the exact thoughts of many people who drove by our church on Sunday, August 18th. You see, on this special day Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, and the Devil were standing at the front door greeting people as they came in!
On this special day we celebrated a very important national holiday here in Peru: Children's Day! While for many this was a day to celebrate the life of the future generation of Peruvians by simply taking their kids out to local parks and restaurants, we decided to take advantage of this special opportunity to invite children to a special service.
First, we spent all day Saturday transforming our church auditorium. EVERYTHING would be for kids, from the worship songs to the message. I am serious when I say that I have never seen so many balloons in my life. During the entire week we encouraged our church members to invite family and friends. And believe me, it was an awesome day! We had 75 children with us that day and each one was a VIP. The adults sat in the back and the children got center stage.
Now why, you might ask, were Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Devil all at church? Well, the entire message was taught that morning through puppets and drama. Our puppets shared about their fears and how scary the Devil is. Every one of our superheros tried to conquer the Devil, but to no avail! Only Jesus Christ with his love was able to conquer him and bring peace to our lives! He is the greatest Superhero of all time! All in all we had a great day. Not only was the service great, but we enjoyed carnival and inflatable games afterward. While the children played, our outreach team connected with each one of the visiting families to share Christ with them. Please pray for follow up with these new families in the future months.
August was also a GREAT month because we celebrated the birth of a very special woman: Cris Johana. I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed this incredible woman with another year of life! We also celebrated our 10th year anniversary! God blessed us with an amazing (but short) getaway to spend a few days together alone while both gradmas watched the kids. We continue to look forward to many more years together, serving the Lord in view of his love.
Thank you for your support and prayers this month! You are the best!
