The Telmans - Uganda - December 2016
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Uganda! It feels like we just came back from America, yet we've already been back for 6 months. What a busy 6 months it has been! The medical team from Long Hollow Baptist Church in Tennessee was here the first week of October. They saw 1600 people from the surrounding villages. Some of the Bible College members came every day to hand out books of John and Romans and to talk to people about our church and our Lord. It's exciting to watch the people here learning more about God and the Christian life, but it's even more exciting to watch them put their learning into practice!

The "waiting room" for the medical team
A young lady, Elizabeth, from one of our supporting churches in Louisiana met up & came with the medical team. She will be staying here until May or June, when Amanda goes back for graduation. She has been teaching reading and phonics in three of our Primary classes and in the Bible college. She is also teaching John and helping with Peter. She has been quite a blessing to us and the ministry in many ways!
Our former pastor, Pastor Crockett, came in November with his wife, his
daughter, and Emily's former roommate who has been traveling with them.
We didn't think Emily would be able to come with them, but God provided
through some generous friends shortly before they came. We didn't tell the
rest of the kids she was coming. They stayed behind when we picked them
up from the airport, and they had the surprise of their lives when we
returned with her. We had such a sweet visit!
Our P7 class took their PLE exam in November, & we are hoping to hear good results soon.
The school finished their school year this month, and the orphans went home to their guardians for the break. Please pray for them to be wise, safe, & healthy, and for a safe return at the end of January. Our S4 students will return sooner than the rest so they can start preparing for a major test (similar to the PLE, but more intense) that they will take at the end of the year. Please pray for them and the new P7 class as they prepare for these exams this year.
We look forward to seeing what God has planned for our family and our ministry in 2017. One change we’re not quite as excited about is Amanda graduating from high school & leaving for college. Please pray for her to have wisdom as she seeks God’s plan for her life.
We have some new ministry opportunities we are praying about. We are planning to start a vocational school after the S4 class finishes this upcoming school year for those that don't go on to college. We would also like to build a Jjaja home for the elderly so they can be nearby for more accessible help. We would appreciate you joining us in prayer for God’s guidance.
Thank you for your continued support through your prayers and finances in 2016. May we all remain strong in God’s work through 2017.
We had a full church on Christmas with several visitors & 1 salvation...
Amanda had 120 students in her Sunday School class on Christmas day!
